Do you want to help out in the community? Do you want to get a service-learning diploma? If you’re an IB student, do you need ideas for CAS hours? If so, then this is the perfect column for you! To get your hours done, here are some steps you should follow:
Step 1: Do your research! There are many ways to get involved such as joining a club at Smith, or in the community. If you would like to start a service-learning project that is related to a class subject, ask your teacher about it!
Step 2: Get Information! Talk to Ms. Donnell or visit the Service-Learning Board for ideas and help with planning. Talk to Mr. Nolan for CAS hour help. Ask your club advisor at Smith if hours will be given.
Step 3: Join the club or organization and have fun!
Step 4: Get everything done! Make sure all of the needed documents are signed to have your hours credited. (If you are in a club at Smith, you do not need to fill out any documents).
Step 5: Reflect. The best thing about doing service is that what you do is beneficial to the community.
