Flashback: GoldenEagles Indoor Track and Field team competed at the NCHSAA 4A State Indoor Championship at the JDL Fast Track Complex in Winston-Salem.
On the Women's side, NiDonna Nicholson placed 15th in the Long Jump. Later she placed 14th and had a personal best in the 55 meter Hurdles with a time of 8.81 seconds. NiDonna saved her best for last by placing 8th in the Triple Jump. The jump of 35 feet 6 inches was another personal best On the Men's side, Jeremy Davis came back from a mid season injury and won the State Championship in the Long Jump. The jump measured 22 feet 11.5 inches. Miles Grier Wrestling for 3rd. The Consolation Rounds: Miles beat William Liptrot from Wake High with a 10-3 decision. Then he took on Trevon Prunell and beat him with a Tech Fall; 1:56. He qualified for the 3rd Place Match which he lost to David Crumby. This ends the Wrestling Season for Miles Grier, finishing at 49-9.
The Seeding's for Basketball State Playoffs were released today. The Boys were seeded 17th in the 4A West and will travel to Richmond High to take on the #16 Richmond Raiders Tuesday in Round One. This will be the third consecutive year that the team has made it to playoffs under Coach Partee's Tenure. They lost last year in the 2nd Half to Independence High: 66-50. Eagle Nation is behind them as they complete another #RoadToTheShip. Miles Grier, 4A 126, represented Ben L. Smith High at the NCHSAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament. He beat Lake Norman's Zac Rainess in a 10-8 Decision. Then then went up against Senior Richard Tolston from Jack Britt High who proved too much for Miles. Tolston won by tech fall- 1.5 3:25 (16-1). Miles will now play for 3rd. His first match is against Robert Markee, the Senior from Hough High tomorrow morning on Mat 7.
The Eagles had 12 entered in the Individual Regional Wrestling Tournament and only one will represent Ben L. Smith at the State Wrestling Tournament Friday at the Greensboro Coliseum. Miles Grier, a Sophomore, will wrestle in the 4A 126 Weight Class. His qualifying place was 3rd. He enters with a record of 45-7. #GoodLuckMiles
Senior Night at the Big Gym Friday Night. The Lady Eagles entering the game with some confidence. The Eagles had been playing well against some very good teams, Southeast, Page, Southern Alamance. But now it was time to win. Coming off an emotional 39-30 loss to Southern Alamance, the Eagles looking to win their 6th game of the season. Aassiyah Cobb was spectacular from the line. 4-4 form the Free Throw line in the first Half. Also, despite the record of the Team, Tamani Manning making a case for Player of the Year. A strong post player. Tamani with 17 points. The Eagles built up a 21-19 halftime score but the Whirlies would fight their way back in a second half full of fouls and players fouling out. Eagles lose: 43-35

Kendric starting things with a dunk., 14 points for the 6-8 Senior Aaron Simpson. Making his senior night something to remember, 32 Points for the Senor Guard including 3 consecutive threes in the second half. The Eagles built up a 46-29 lead at the half. Whenever the game got close, Free Throws helped the Eagles. A very different free throw tam than a few games ago. As a matter of fact, Free Throws killed them in their first loss to Grimsley. The Eagles were 28-29 from the line. So, Aaron Simpson with 32, Raymon Pratt with 20, Kendric Lowe with 14, and Jumaul Wallace with 13 as the Eagles win, 88-77 and take Second Place heading into Conference Tournament, which begins Monday at Dudley..
