Girls SoccerIt might be a long season for the Girls Soccer team this year. The team only managed to win just 2 games last season and those two games was to Dudley, another dismal team. Those two wins came after blowout losses to Page and a 9-0 loss to Southeast to begin the season. The team lost Ragianna Royster but they do return 5 players including Senior Captain Cynthia Franco, the rest of the team is filled with newcomers to the sport and competitive play. Watching them practice the other day there are a few things they need to work on before they hit the field. |
Keys to Success
1. Communication: Can't win games or defend well if you don't call out names and talk together.
2. Trapping: A big problem is getting to the ball and trapping it to actually play.
3. Ground Ball Game: For a team that majority of the players have low passing skills, they can't afford to kick to ball up in the air.
4. Confidence: Aggressiveness is going to be key if the Lady Eagles think that they are going to be contenders in their games this season especially against teams such as Page and Southeast.
They may score against each other in intra-squad scrimmages, but how would they match up against other teams. This season can be a good one, just look at the Boys Soccer Team, who came out and shocked people. Only time would tell but that's a short amount of time. They kickoff their season Monday at Smith vs. Northeast Guilford. Kickoff: 5:30 Tickets: $5
